Sleep & Food

The first two weeks of the new year have brought some firsts for Malcolm. Although he is still not sleeping through the night Malcolm is sleeping for all or most of the night in his own crib. After he grew out of the bassinet instead of making several cold trips to the other room I elected to co-sleep. That was working out okay until the squirming and bed hogging got to me, Ashley wanted his bed back, and any movement was waking Malcolm up. I think we are all happier with this arrangement. If he is really tired and rangy the only thing that will get him to sleep is snuggling up with Mommy & Daddy, but we are heading in the right direction.

Just one week shy of the six month mark we started Malcolm on solid foods. I had been putting this off for a month, ignoring Malcolm's visible interest in our food, until after the holiday season. Auntie Ann Marie was in town for a visit and shared this non event with us. After all the build up it was a bit of a let down when Malcolm didn't quite know what to do with the rice cereal on the spoon and even started making some pretty funny "this taste bad" faces. With each feeding Malcolm has obviously developed a liking for the cereal now that he knows how to eat off the spoon. He has even started grunting when the bowl is empty, he wants more, and we don't have it ready soon enough.
