It's a Boy!

It's a BOY!

Ashley and Patricia are thrilled to announce that on Friday July 14th at 11:41PM our son entered the world and has taken a firm hold on our hearts.

Labour and Delivery went fairly quickly lasting approximately 5 hours from start of active labour to the time of birth. We were able to stay at home for most of the time; our wonderfully supportive Midwife Chantal arrived at the house around 8:30PM for an assessment before we headed to the Montford Hospital for the delivery. Ashley, Chantal and a second Midwife Liz were very supportive and great coaches helping Patricia have the unmedicated birth we were planning.

The little guy arrived just five days before his due date on July 20th and weighed in at 8lbs 3oz and measured 20 ¾ inches in length. We were able to leave the hospital just hours after the birth, with the Boyd family of three returning to our home at 3:30am on the 15 th. Our little family has settled in, and is very content. Everybody is happy and healthy, and to anyone that might be concerned with the early hospital departure know that Chantal is checking in on us daily, with home visits every second day for the first week. (Better than any hospital stay in my opinion.)

We have been holding off sending out this announcement not because we are in hiding, or because we want to keep our little guy to ourselves (who wouldn't), but the fact we have yet to pick a name! Stay tuned we do have thirty days but hope not to take the whole time.

For those of you who participated in the baby guessing pool the winner was Patricia's cousin Sandra Edmonds who predicted a boy, on July 15th at 3:00PM - 8lbs 6oz – 21 inches. Honorable mention goes to Aunt Carolyn (Ashley's sister) who was only off by a few hours from the actual birth date/time with a guess of July 15 th at 2:13am. As a special note the little guy, just to be different, picked one of the 5 dates in July between the 10th and 30th that no one else picked.
