In the Begining...

The origins of the Little Blue Door.
July 2002 Ashley and I moved into our first house, a cute three bedroom bungalow with lots of potential located in a fantastic neighbourhood in Ottawa.
The first task was to remove the brown shag carpeting and very soon after strip the scary wallpaper from every room and start painting. Over the next weeks, months, years we (okay Ashley) have managed to (not in this order and certainly not everything):

• paint every room
• refinish the hardwood floors
• re-panel /drywall basement
• re-tile the ceiling in the basement
• put in a new kitchen floor
• install a new bathroom floor
• place a new kitchen counter top
• paint the kitchen cabinets
• replace 80% of the windows
• remove asphalt walkway and patio
• install new patio
• build veg table gardens
• replace front door
• and finally paint the front door bright blue

The blue door on our house make it stand out on the street and I like to think show a little bit of our personality, a little out of the ordinary, not always predictable, bright and happy. I decided to name our blog "The Little Blue Door" because this is a portal into our lives. Check out what is going on behind our little blue door....
