I've been having a tough time blogging lately. Not only did our camera die in September so there was a lack of pictures, and a pretty rough go of it for a few weeks while life was just happening, but also I find it difficult to talk about Malcolm and all of his developments, quirks, and personality in such a two dimensional way. Words cannot describe what a little person he is turning into.
He is a singing, dancing, talking, laughing, talking, playing, talking little boy. Did I mention talking? He is starting to really show his independence and get frustrated when he can't physically do things that he wants to do by himself. He is day potty trained and only wears diapers for the night sleep (thanks to Jen for doing all the hard work, we just followed along). He is really showing improvements in his swimming class, loving to blow bubbles and kick his legs, and flap his arms, he is even starting to accept floating on his back if you get him in just the right position.
One personality trait still rings true, he is still very much Malcolm the Entertainer. When we walked into the Library story time last Saturday he broke into a very loud rendition of Itsy Bitsy Spider I think it was, and kept going until he had the attention of the full room of parents and kids. I hear that he is always providing suggestions for songs and stories to read at playgroup too.
I get a chuckle when we still get people commenting on the colour of his hair. To me its just Malcolm's hair, but when we meet strangers I invariably hear a comment on the golden/strawberry blond hair. It makes it difficult to want to cut it too much :)
But really anything I write here does not do Malcolm justice. You really have to see him to believe him.
