This morning had a rough start to the day but very quickly resolved itself.
Malcolm woke with a crying start at 6:00am, well before our normal waking time. Normally I might nurse him back to sleep, one sure fired way to get him to calm down and realize "I don't want to be up so early" and fall back to sleep. I was reluctant to do this because that would mean Malcolm would sleep longer than I wanted, we had to get to the library for 10:30. I rocked and bobbed him in my arms till he started to catch his breath and relax then brought him into bed with me, Ashley decided he may as well get up at this point and headed to the shower. Malcolm was still not too happy at this time so I started singing finger songs to him (Tommy Thumb, Once I Caught a Fish alive, 1 little 2 little fingers, etc. ) waving my fingers in the air. He quickly latched on to my fingers (one finger and one thumb) and held on tight for 15 minutes while examined them very closely then fell back to sleep. Very sweet, I could have watched him play with my hand for hours all snuggled up in a warm bed. The only thing missing was Ashley not being able to hang out with us and snuggle.
